Parents play a crucial role in their student’s success, and having the right tools and knowledge can make all the difference. To support families in this journey, Pivot Charter School has introduced Family Homerooms—a virtual informational series designed to keep parents informed, engaged, and empowered to support their students in the unique learning environment that Pivot provides.

“Parents are our greatest partners in student success,” said Abigail Titus, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. “Family Homerooms offer a space where they can ask questions, gain clarity on their student’s progress, and learn about the many resources available to help their student thrive.”

These sessions take place on the second Friday of every month at 10 AM and cover a variety of topics that help families navigate their students’ academic experiences. Each session is interactive, covering essential areas like:

  • Understanding academic progress: How to assess course completion, credits, and key learning benchmarks
  • Encouraging students to ask for help: Supporting students in developing self-advocacy and utilizing Pivot’s available resources
  • State testing and student learning: Insights into the benefits of state assessments and how families can help students prepare
  • Mental health support with Soluna: Exploring a new mental health platform and how it can help students

Whether you’re tracking academic progress, helping your student develop life skills, or exploring new resources, these sessions provide meaningful takeaways for families. At Pivot, we recognize the unique learning environment that hybrid education offers, and our Family Homerooms are specifically tailored to support success in virtual learning. We also take into consideration the types of homerooms parents desire and work to incorporate those preferences into our Family Homeroom schedule, ensuring a personalized experience for each family. Join us for the next Family Homeroom and be part of your student’s journey!
