Pivot Charter School is a strong supporter of Fun Fridays and field trips. Field trips are an important and valuable part of the educational experience. They offer opportunities for students to interact with one another outside the campus and learn about new things. Our teachers are working hard to make sure every field trip is a fun and valuable learning experience.

Our first field trip this year was to Crystal Cove State Beach where students were given a chance to learn about ocean and beach wildlife. Students had a great time learning while having fun.

In October, we carved pumpkins and traveled to a trip to a local Corn Maze. Students not only got to navigate their way through the cornstalk puzzle but learn about agriculture along the way. It was a great exercise in patience and farming!

Our most recent field trip was in November in honor of Veteran’s Day. We traveled to the USS Midway in San Diego and learned what life aboard a naval carrier is like. Students at Pivot Charter also participated in making a thank you poster for the veterans at the Veterans’ Hospital in San Bernardino.

Our next field trip will be to the Aquarium of the Pacific this month to learn about the various creatures that live in our Pacific Ocean. This field trip will tie into our biology and life science curriculum.

In the future months, Pivot Charter plans to go Fun Friday bowling and take a field trip to the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles. To celebrate Lincoln’s birthday and President’s Day we will travel to the Reagan Library and Riley’s Farm to experience a Revolutionary War reenactment.

Fun Fridays provide socialization for our students and allow them to try new activities. Field trips offer learning experiences outside the classroom that are hands-on and interactive. We feel that both are an important part of offering a well-rounded and rich curriculum.
